Building Cars That Matter was a four year process. Compiling the information was more difficult then we imagined - even the model names that many of us thought we knew by heart were questioned and sometimes found to be incorrect. Popular names, those used everyday, are sometimes incorrect. Jaguar XKEs are properly E-types, and is that an AC Cobra, an A.C. Cobra, a Shelby Cobra, or a Cobra that you’re thinking of buying? Should a Chrysler Imperial be listed under “C” for Chrysler or “I” for Imperial (for that answer, check out the book…)? Should Mustang and Thunderbird cars run in, or after the Ford section? How about Chevrolet and Camaro cars? Do we run 300SL Mercedes cars in a section following other Mercedes models?
And those were questions that needed to be answered before we even began pricing.
